Town Of Scarborough

Originally a township, Scarborough was incorporated into Metropolitan Toronto's municipal government in 1953. It later became a borough in 1967 after the Township of Pickering was divided, with one part joining West Rouge and the other part joining the Regional Municipality of Durham.

In 1998, the Municipality of Scarborough was dissolved along with East York, Etobicoke, North York, York, and the "old City of Toronto," to form the Toronto we know today.

Despite being part of Toronto, Scarborough is home to some of the city's most popular attractions, including the Toronto Zoo and Scarborough Bluffs. The Scarborough Town Centre is also a well-known destination for shoppers.

Community Involvment

At Morningside Nissan, we firmly believe that our success is closely tied to the community. That's why we've always made it a priority to give back and support various local initiatives. 

Most recently, we were proud to become one of the Title Sponsors for Tamil Fest, an annual event organized by the Canadian Tamil Congress. This lively festival brought together people from all over to enjoy food, dancing, and shopping, and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

Toronto has one of the highest Tamil-speaking communities outside of Asia, making up over 4% of the entire population of the city. With the highest concentration of the Tamil community calling Rouge Valley home our team has had the pleasure of experiencing many aspects of Tamil culture.

That’s why we’re proud to have served as one of the Title Sponsors for Tamil Fest two years in a row. With the support of the City of Toronto, the Canadian Tamil Congress closes down Markham Road between McNicoll Avenue and Passmore Avenue for an expose of cultural food, artistic talents and traditional activities.

In addition to our involvement with Tamil Fest, we're also known in Scarborough as a frequent drop-off location for non-perishable foods and children's toys during the holiday season. Over the years, we've donated to a number of different partners, including the East Scarborough Boys and Girls Club and CTV's Toy Mountain.
